Our story

A door that's always open.

Little Hawks Foundation NPO began in a Rocklands kitchen — and in the heart of one woman determined that no child in her community would go to school hungry.

Little Hawks Foundation is a non-profit organisation that founder Noleen Fisher started to aid families who are hungry, struggling and impoverished in her community. She also assists unemployed community members seeking jobs — typing CVs free of charge — and helps with copies of important documents needed for SASSA, or for seniors needing rates papers and IDs copied at no cost.

From the NPO in Rocklands, Noleen prepares breakfast sandwiches for children aged 4–16, as well as for moms and grandparents who have nothing to eat before going to school and work. Sandwiches are also provided for lunch throughout the day, and many evenings — for families who would otherwise have nothing.

Mitchells Plain is overrun with drugs and crime, which has broken up many homes and families. Gangsterism is at an all-time high, which means children are often hungry, malnourished, and in desperate need of care as many parents are consumed by addiction.

The current means of providing meals is funded through Noleen's real estate work. School shoes, bags, stationery and warm winter clothing are bought out of her own pocket. Through partnered attorneys, the Foundation also arranges free wills and legal guidance for community members who can't afford an attorney.

Our intention with Little Hawks Foundation is to break the cycle of poverty, violence, and limited opportunities by providing essential resources, educational programs, and a strong support system. More than 70 children come to the Foundation every single day.

Based at 16 Hawk Street, Rocklands, Mitchells Plain, 7785. We work hand-in-hand with the Community Police Forum (CPF) in Delft, supporting the Individual Subsidy and FLISP Subsidy applications so families don't lose a day's pay travelling to certify documents.
